| Welcome to AZ and I hope you get a chance to experience the rock before the heat overtakes us! I would take a look at a couple local areas to assess your interest level - Camelback mountain has one of the closest and Iconic climbs in the metro area - Praying Monk. Its easy but fun and the exposure and views are superb. The rock is not granite but will definetly get your attention ( lol ) McDowell Mountains are another stellar spot with a variety of areas to experience. This is a trad leaders paradise - Check out Hanging Gardens - 2 pitches 5.5 Of course there are a number of other climbs available ranging from 5.5 - 5.10+ Great area - a full week could be experienced here. Pinnacle Peak boasts one of the largest moniliths in the area - it can be seen for miles and includes some of the best granite in the area. This is mostly trad - be prepared for stiff grades. Of course, it you want to do some sport climbing - Queen Creek is only an hour away - hundreds of routes. You can PM me if you want or email me Shiloh@climbphx.com CLimb Safe - Climb Strong -CLimbPHX.com | FLAG |
