| Are you guys doing sushi Friday or Saturday? Trying to make it down there to help out. Just not sure what time I will be able to make it down. I was going to be making a trip for memorial day weekend there, so I figured this might be a way to give back to the area. | FLAG |

| Officially sushi is happening Saturday night. I'm heading down early tomorrow morning and at a minimum I'm eating sushi tomorrow night as well (sushi tent will be set up). Boxes of fishes arrive shortly. | FLAG |

| Looks like 40 % chance of rain. We may be drinking early. | FLAG |

| Yeah, I saw the weather forecast the other day, but it looks like less of a chance of rain there than in the springs, so it looks like I'm going to try and get down there. Is there still going to be a camping fee for us for the weekend or is it being waived for the volunteers? Does anyone know? Is there anything we need to bring tool wise to help out? I've never done something like this so it will be fun to help and learn this weekend. Thanks | FLAG |

| I'm almost positive the fee is being waived for volunteers. A hammer, pry bar, blow tube and maybe some old rope. | FLAG |
By Mike Smyth From Spartanburg, SC May 10, 2012
| What would you recommend for pry bar and blow tube? I could stop by the hardware store today and pick some stuff up maybe. I think i have a 3 pound sledge laying around somewhere. No problem for a rope | FLAG |

| More specifically asking for do you go with a flat pry bar or a round wrecking bar? | FLAG |

| Whats up with this weather coming in? NOAA shows it not looking too favorable for the weekend... what do you guys think? | FLAG |
By Mike Smyth From Spartanburg, SC May 11, 2012
| I'm probably still going to go. Looks like the rain will come at night if it does at all. | FLAG |

| Mike- i like a 24" pry bay with one end notched. The blow tube may be harder to find, the best ones look like a short turkey baster. See you all Saturday I hear a new gazebo has/will be built, so we can hide from rain. | FLAG |

| Thanks John. I'll try and pick something up on my way out of town. Do you know if it's faster to cut through canon city or take I-25 down towards Walsenburg? I found some plastic tubing for a blow tube. Hopefully the weather will turn out better for us than the forecast here in C Springs. I look forward to catching up with the group and helping out | FLAG |

| Some rain and stuff passing through now. Saturday looks better, only showers. Bob and a few others are there now. Going Canon city can be a bit slow. i think Walsenberg/160 is better. You can head north out of Monte Vista or Del Norte, both have signs for the canyon. | FLAG |

| I just talked to Bob, he says the sky is clearing. A few sprinkles but going away. Should be nice tomorrow with occasional shower. There are eight or nine parties in the campground tonight, and the sushi tent is up. I'll be there bright and early. | FLAG |

| Home made aluminum hangers, old Leepers, angle iron, cold shuts, spinning SMCs.... The FAs made do with what they had on hand at the time, and it held up to years of heavy use. I'd like to thank them for their energy and investment. If they want any of it back, give Bob D. a call.... Submitted By: Mike Howard on May 14, 2012

| Here is why we shouldn't toprope through fixed anchors.... I believe there were several that were even worse taken from Mr. Breeze (the beginner 5.2 route), but some folks took souvenirs prior to my photos. Submitted By: Mike Howard on May 14, 2012

| Drop in bolts from Sheer Lunacy. We thought they had sheared in the hole, but that is the entire machine bolt and the lead cone was left in the hole. The head has a "$" mark. If you see them, replace them with an experienced equipper. Unbelievable. We pulled a few Diamond tapers as well that seemed solid unless you turned them a quarter... | It was very exciting to help and learn and improve a special place this weekend. Thanks to all who helped out and donated some elbow grease to clean the place up, the companies for donating the hardware, beer, food, and climbing gear, and to those who put this great event together. If you didn't get the chance or didn't want to make the effort, I would have to say that you truly missed a special opportunity. Can't wait for the next one | FLAG |

| Can anybody do strength tests on the worn hangers? It would be really interesting to know how much strength remains (AKA factor of safety). | FLAG |

| Mike, I assume those 2 really bad shuts were from Mr. Wind? That is just scary! Thanks for all your help and patience with teaching us about good bolting. Peni has needed this for a while. | FLAG |
