I will be living in Ollantaytambo, Peru from October - November, which is 8km away from Pachar, I'll bring my rope/pro if there will be people down to climb with me while I'm there. You'd just need harness/shoes/atc-belay/stoke. Ask me for my email and we can chat more if you will be down there between Oct-Nov.

Cheers

Hey Jake, how are you?
I'm heading down to Peru the next days, was looking into climbing near Huaraz, but am open for any recommendations! How is Pachar? Is it sport or trad climbing? What do you normally climb?
I only brought shoes, harness and atc for myself, don't have quick draws either. Is there a place to rent some stuff?

Let me know if you're still looking for somebody to climb with.

Saludos, Nora

Hi!
I'm living in the sacred valley in Lamay until January 2016.
I brought all my gear except for a rope, I would be happy to climb with you!
Are you also interrested in mountaineering (my oal is the nevado chicon skyhighandes.com/chicon.php but I don't want to pay an expedition)
best regards
jonas

Hola Nora,

Sorry for the late response, I was on a backpacking trip.
Go to the Huaraz area over the Sacred Valley, so far I have not run into any climbers every time I go to the crag and am tired of free soloing the easy route. it is mostly sport at Pachar but I hear there are some trad climbs around the sacred valley. But I think you will find better luck for partners and gear renting near Lima.

As for renting gear I don't have any beta on that. There are tour guide services that will take you climbing if you have the $$$ for that.

But if you are in the Sacred Valley try to give me a call and we can climb at Pachar, the wall could use some love (a good scrubbing) but it looks like some fun sport climbs.

You can text me for free at 206.427.0210, or give me a call.

Cheers

Hey Jonas,

I would be more than happy to climb with you, you can email me at jakeshclugston@gmail.com or give me a text/call at 206.427.0210.

As for mountaineering I don't have any experience with that but I am a sponge when it comes to learning, we can talk more about that in person.

A bonus to the crag at Pachar is that there's a micro brewery 5 min walk away that has some great brews, which is a life saver when you're sick of cusquena. Anyways, let's get in contact and we can get some pitches in and then some pints in after.

Cheers

Hey Jake,
I´m on my way to Peru, but heading down from Ecuador, so it´s not really on my way right now. I´ll go to Huaraz first, but I´ll let you know as soon as I have any plans for the next weeks!
