BETA PHOTO: Mill Creek Map via Google Earth

Description

Located near Livingston, Mill Creek is host to many single pitch trad and sport lines on roadside granite in a beautiful alpine valley. Approaches are short (Some are less than 10 seconds from the car) and the climbing is fun and safe feeling. In 2007 Mill Creek burned rather disastrously leading to a neat new life feeling in the valley. Due to its location in the mountains it can experience some mountain weather and be considerably different from what Bozeman is experiencing weather wise so bring a jacket.

Getting There

Getting there is relatively easy:

Driving from Bozeman or Livingston - Drive down 89 heading towards Gardiner for ~17 miles and then take a left on Mill Creek Road. Head down Mill Creek Road for 14.3 miles continuing straight until the obvious large granite formations appear on the left side of the road. It should be noted that Mile Markers in this neck of the woods are unreliable for telling distance as they change each time the land crosses different land ownership parcels. It is approximately .25 miles after the Passage Falls Trailhead. See attached map for extra directions if needed.

There is a climbing guide for Paradise Valley written by Kevin Hutchinson that has a crapload of climbs from Mill Creek to the Allenspur to Yankee Jim Canyon. You should get the names and ratings, etc, from that book. It is the original guide.
