Pagoda bivy sites

The RMNP page lists a bivy site by Chiefshead/Pagoda for 4 climbers. However, I can't find any information on where this site is. Specifically I'm wondering how far it is from the spearhead bivies, and if the spearhead bivies or this other bivy would be a better choice for the north buttress on Pagoda. Any help or guidance is appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

There are a couple of good ones up near Green Lake. This is a few minutes uphill from the Spearhead bivies and will put you in a better spot for Pagoda. Can't remember exact location, but they shouldn't be too hard to find.

it's only about 15 minutes from the Spearhead bivies to Pagoda.

Not to hijack this post, but in the link you provided, are the Chasm View sites in the Boulder-field? Or are these something else?

Jeff, I believe the boulderfield sites are separate, as they are considered backcountry camping sites where you can pitch a tent. I have heard of people bivying at Chasm View, but never could figure out why.

I would be interested to hear more about the Chiefshead/Pagoda sites though, it would certainly be a cool place to spend a day doing long moderate routes on Pagoda and Keyboard of the Winds.

Robb,

I'm pretty sure the word "site" is a bit of a misnomer on the NPS webpage. All they are saying is that this is the total amount of climbers that particular area should hold per night. I do not think there is a semi-defined "site" under Pagoda like there are at the Spearhead Hilton or above Chasm Lake.

Just go on up, look around, and if there are not any good boulders to sleep under, go down to the Spearhead area, as its only a few minutes down like Justin mentioned.

Just my two cents. Others may have better info on particular "sites".

Jeff, Chasm View is different from the Boulder field. People camp there if they dont want to lug up a tent and deal with the tourons at the boulderfield. Close to the rapps down to BW too. Very cool "sites". My first time up Longs 15 years ago ran into two dudes bivied there playing chess and getting high on the good stuff. I was 15 years old, and I thought they were just....awesome.
