| Hola from San Diego, I am going to be in the Olympia area for a few days in May and would love to climb with my brother who lives there, but I can't seem to track down any climbing in the area. Is there anything inside of an hour from there that anyone knows about? I will be in a rush a lot and may not have the time to roll out to the passes for the good stuff.
Any Reccos? | |

| I live in SD now but I used to live in Tacoma, WA. The only place near by that I can think of is Fossil Rock, near McKenna, WA. Its a fun, moderate sport area. Actually, it's where I learned to climb. It's in Rock Climbing Washington, so if you can track down a copy of that you're set, or if ya want i'll dig out my copy and give directions when I'm not is such a hurry. -jesse | |

| From Olympia, Fossil Rock is about a 45 minute drive, and an hour hike and bike, from what I remember. So if you're strapped for time, there is much better climbing available at Exit 32, aka Little Si. Good sport climbs from 5.8 to 5.hard (most in the .10 and up range), and the occassional good crack (see Mambo Jambo in the British Aisles area: http://www.mountainproject.com/v/washington/exit_32__little_>>>>>. The drive from oly is about 1.25 to 1.5 hours, and the hike is about a half hour or so. Happy Climbing! | |
