Mike Hillan rapping off Orestes on a wet day, Moun...

Description

Orestes is the obvious chalked-up left-facing corner that marks the right end of the Flight Deck. It is a striking crack line, one of the few that exist at Arapiles. Climb up the technical corner via hard stemming and jamming to a stance at the roof. Place gear and punch it via hard moves out left under the roof to a stance at a bolted anchor. Be careful not to yard on the terrifying sandy blob thing!!! The second pitch is rarely done.

Protection

Standard rack with an emphasis on wires and small cams.

Generally considered quite easy for the grade -- more like 11b. More straightforward and easily protected the most 'Piles climbs. Note, it will be pretty obvious when you get there, but the traverse goes to the right.

wear a helmet at Arapiles!!! Saw too many people pitch off routes and get hurt AND saw too many pieces of pro rip resulting in near severe accidents.

Orestes is 11B.
