Seasonal raptor closure at Monument Area MORE INFO >>>
Rock climbing is not allowed 1/4 mile either side of the Monument due to a nesting pair of Golden Eagles. The birds are using Staender Ridge as a perch therefore it is also within the closure area. The trail which is on the backside of the Monument is open to through traffic, but hiking is not allowed around the cliff faces.
This route was a TR but was bolted around 98/99 and Alan Watts noted in a posting on the now defunct crag.com that the line drawn for the route in his 92 guide is incorrect and that the current bolted line for the route is different. "Float Like a Butterfly" is the second bolted route left of Rope De Dope Crack.

This is a super fun route with bomb hands and some balancy moves. I thought it was an easier lead for a 10 but thats all good. Getting to the chains is probably one of the harder moves. Most choose to go around the side and pop over.
