Onion Creek is a great granite crack climbing crag in north eastern Washington located 15 minutes from Colville. It holds around 12 routes ranging from 40 to 70 feet tall and has grades from 5.6 to 5.12. All the routes can be top roped and the excellent granite provides really good protection. The anchors consist of bolts, trees or pinches and the walls see shade most of the day due to the large trees at the base. Although every route has been cleaned, they need to be brushed once in a while since they donít see to much traffic.
From Colville, Washington take highway 395 north one mile and turn right on Williams Lake Rd. Follow this road about 5 minutes and turn right onto Onion Creek Rd. Follow Onion Creek Rd. about ten minutes and you will reach a high point where you will see a large house sized white granite boulder on the left. Park just past the boulder off the pavement on the right side. Itís hard to see the wall from the road but look for the faint trail on the east side that goes up the embankment. Itís about a two minute hike to the base of the wall. I believe the crag is on public land but keep a low profile to avoid access problems.
