Description
The area gets its name from the largest boulder in the area which was coined the Steak Dinner Boulder because of a wager in which the first person to climb its blank west face would recieve a free steak dinner at the Plantation House in Medicine Park. Variety of bouldering possibilities.
Getting There
Drive Highway 49 through the Wichita Mountains and turn left (south) onto Indiahoma road and drive past the Park Ranger's Headquarters. You will pass French Lake and Fawn Creek Campground. Take a look at your mileage. The pullout for Steak Dinner Boulder is exactly 1 mile past the turn for the Fawn Creek Campground. Park there. Follow the trail heading southwest through the trees. About 30-50 yards along the trail, you will find a large boulder. This is the Steak Dinner Boulder.
