wild iris limestone at ok corral, wy
The highest concentration of moderate routes are located at the OK Coral. This area boasts a five minute approach and features short, shady, west facing routes that are generally in the 5.9-5.11 range. The routes here tend to be a little sharp, and are generally not as classic as those on other areas of Wild Iris - but the area is still a fine place to spend a day, particularly if you're looking for shade. Most the climbs rise out of a dense pine forest, creating a nice cool cragging environment.
From the outhouse, follow the road right for between 50-200 yards. Multiple trails branch off to the left and head up a short distance to the crag. One of the most obvious trails begins in a campsite with a 25' bolted boulder behind it. This trail will bring you just right of the base of the route 'Claim Jumper'.

This is probably the best 5.11 in the Central OK area. The climb starts just left of Red Riders' flake system on a slab. Solid 5.10 slab moves lead to the bulging wall above. The crux comes at the second bolt above the bulge. A side pull and a couple 2 finger pockets leads to pumpy climbing and the anchors. A fun outing that is not hard for the grade....[more] Browse More Classics in WY

Love the pockets! Only climbed a couple of easier routes here due to a time constraint, and the end of a horrible business trip that included lack of sleep and Jeep issues, and a self inflicted hangover, but so glad I stopped on the way home. The rock here is awesome, especially the pockets, I am so used to crimps and cracks and slopes, the pockets up here are new and exciting. Definately coming back.

A couple of forgetful Canadians here: we may have forgot a pair of black yoga pants at the last site before the end of OK corral. If you find them and would not mind mailing them to a US or Canadian address we will pay shipping. We are already in Jackson and cannot turn back really due to time constraints. If it has been eaten by a bear already I hope the bear enjoys it.
