Offline Use
|
Every time I use the app offline, I get several messages: Unable to resolve host mountainproject.com: No address associated with hostname. I'm guessing it's because I'm offline, but is there a way to keep this message from coming up? Sometimes the message pops up every time I navigate to a different area. |

iOS or Android? We'll take a look... |

Android on a Moto X. Thanks! |

Just to add to the dataset, I'm also having the same problem when offline. Android on Nexus 5. Thanks! |

Wondering the best way to get things ready for Black Hills where I have had no signal the last two years. I have a Samsung S3 with Sprint (so no signal -- my friend gets poor signal on ATT IPhone). I tried downloading areas last year and it sort of worked, but would like to have a mapping program that would work with it offline as well. Didn't have much luck with that last two years. |

Have you tried saving Google Maps for offline use? You'll need to zoom in on the area to save when you are online but it should/may work offline there after. |

Thanks, |

Moto G, have the same problem when I go to airplane mode. |

I forget if you can cache any maps with the free version, but with the paid version you can download Trails Illustrated, US TOPO, and a few other map types to your phone for offline use. (Of course that isn't super helpful if the area you frequent isn't covered by TI) Edit: In addition to downloading maps manually you can also "Wishlist" or "Favorite" a trail, and the app will cache the map data near the trail. Another one of the paid features is you can create your own custom trails, which is another way to cache the maps you need. |

Thanks. I'll check it out. I appreciate the tip. |
