Any info on climbing on Granite Peak near Milford, UT? I saw a sweet photo in the verbose Utah Mountaineering Guide. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Verbose indeed- but don't forget the short shorts and tube socks. There used to be a website that covered the climbing for the area (50+ routes?). I've searched for the site recently with no luck (perhaps they lost their domain?). There are numerous domes, pinnacles, etc., that are each well developed (sport and trad). The rock is gritty and eroding, but I hear there are some classic long lines. If I remember correctly Ranch and Wildhorse Canyons (both on the west side of the range) are your best access points. This area burned in the 2007 Milford Flat Fire, so it might be a moonscape these days. Perhaps this area will be included in James' new book...? Cheers.

Didn't Randy K or Steve H run that site? That was cool - and many years ago.

Steve H for sure.

Rosco, A fine animal.

I was active putting up some routes down there in the late 90's. I would like to post some of them, but need some frame of reference as I don't think I have any photos of the area. Most of the rock is pretty gritty, but some is good, and there are some nice climbs down there. It is a beautiful place as well.

The mad bomber!

http://www.Mineralmountains.com used to contain alot of the route info out there.

Put up a few routes out there in the mid nineties too. We didn't have the same fortune as Steve and Ben et al. What we FA'ed was ball bearing grooves that lacked pro and good climbing. But from the topo's I've seen it looks like there is some goodness out there to be had.

Tyler and Ben,
I do have quite a few routes to the Minerals in the new West Desert manuscript which will include many other West Desert areas not in the previous guide, but none from either of you....get it in soon to me if you want it included. Research for the area has been challenging.

gracias!
Although handholding via detailed guidebook topos definately detracts from the joy of adventure of checking stuff out for yourself, it is still nice to know what's been done out there. I think there's a fine line between just enough and too much information for places like this, but it's not like there's going to be a huge increase in traffic, and I stongly believe that a photo and a line drawn greatly ADD to the imagination. You gotta have something to go on!

So thanks again.
