I'm looking for some cragging close to home (not the canyons) Some days it's too much of a push.. Anybody know if there is climbing in City Creek Canyon? Any other suggestions?

Thanks much!

Somewhere across the fruited plains.

If we are discussing City Creek near the Capitol at the north end of SLC than there are climbs in this area. At the mouth of the canyon I've climbed some bolted conglomerate and further up canyon there are bolted and trad climbs on limestone fins. The Wasatch Guide has topo on the known climbs, and there are probably more routes to be found.

I was up there yesterday. The Shoreline crag is pretty fun and in the Ruckman guide, as is the limestone close to the road near Rotary Park. Apparently, there's a somewhat futuristc wall up there with a 5.14 and potential for more. I've not seen it yet.

IME has a photocopy guide with more route on the north side of the canyon, also near RP.

Above the Shoreline, on the conglomerate wall you can see from the road, are a few more routes. There's a bit more potential in the canyon as well in the conglomerate caves further up the canyon. The rock isn't as nice as Maple--not close, really--but the convenience factor is high.
