I am hoping to head out to Mammoth, CA to visit a friend. I was thinking about heading to Bishop for a day or 2, but am interested in any good climbing in/around Mammoth as well. I'll probably be in the area in later July/early August.

Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Nicole

Wednesday night, performing at the Lady Sassafras art car while DJ Treavor of Moontribe lays down some crunchy techno

The Minarets for classic alpine lines...
The Dike Wall for killer sport climbing on white granite...
Clark's Canyon for fun volcanic pocket pulling in the pines...
Deadman's and Bachar Boulders for good volcanic bouldering with perfect landings...
Rock Creek for more perfect granite: alpine lines, cragging, and bouldering...

The bouldering at Bishop will be too hot that time of year, except maybe right at sunrise, but the alpine lines in the Palisades and Evolutions will be perfect..

I would suggest checking out Mammoth Area Rock Climbs by Marty Lewis, and The Good, the Great, and the Awesome by Peter Croft.

Good luck and have fun!
