I'm thinking about taking a road trip to the Owens River Gorge the last week in March. Are conditions likely to be good that time of year?

Should be perfect. If it's a hot spell stay in the shade, if it's cool stay in the sun.

Never know if there'll be a chance of rain, but the mountains like to take the rain and leave none for the Gorge or Bishop.

A trip to Bishop any time of the year will see perfect conditions no more than 1 hours drive away. ORG in March should be ideal.

If you're looking for weather forecasts closer to the trip, you should check out ClimbingWeather.com . It has 6-day forecasts for climbing areas throughout the U.S. Unlike a lot of the major weather sites, you can check the weather for a specific climbing area (it uses latitude and longitude) rather than the nearest town. And it all comes from the National Weather Service Digital Forecast database (translation - about as good as any forecast).

Here is the info for Owen's River Gorge:

Hope that is helpful!

I'll be down in Bishop with a pretty good contingent of Portland climbers in late March-- we'll be careful to leave all of our rain up here.

Awesome, thanks for the beta everyone! Has anyone stayed at Brown's Millpond campground? My partner wants to stay somewhere with showers. :)
