| On October 9, 2008, I was a member of a 6 person climbing group on Mt Whitney. Each of the three groups were climbing the East buttress route. Two teams climbed the route on October 8, and the third on the 9th. The third team had the misfortune of getting caught off route on pitch 6. By the time they were back on track it was getting late and had decided to rappel the route to its base. In doing this the team was forced to leave much gear on the route. The gear consisted of about a half rack of metolius cams and camelots, slings, nuts and carabiners. I am hoping that anyone who might be climbing this route in the near future and finds this gear would be kind enough to make an effort to return it to its proper owner. There is a reward for its return. If anyone knows of someone climbing the route please inform them of the situation. You can reach me, John, at jnmtmn@yahoo.com.
Thank you,
