Wednesday night, performing at the Lady Sassafras art car while DJ Treavor of Moontribe lays down some crunchy techno

Just wondering what condition the snowfields are in. I am going out to do the Swiss Arete on Sill among other routes and I was just wondering if I will need crampons, or if I could get away with just an axe. Any info appreciated. Thanks!

At Potrero Chico, New Years 2007/08

Tavis, I was out there a month ago (June 13) and climbed both the Swiss Arete and Sun Ribbon on Temple Crag. My partner and I managed fairly well with one ice axe each and no crampons. The only section that a light set of crampons might have been nice was on the steep snowfield up to Sun Ribbon/Moon Goddess. We managed alright in approach shoes by chopping steps. Have fun!
