Hey guys,

Figured this was a long shot but we are really wanting to climb so I figured I'd give it a shot. My wife and I are looking for a couple or a couple of friends that would want to show us the ropes. I have top roped at Smith rock once before, early this summer. I belayed a lead climber and had no problem with it. On my first trip i was climbing 5.9. Since then I have top roped in the gym. Depending on the gym I was climbing 5.8-5.10. My wife and I are currently gym bouldering in Louisville almost daily. I'm currently able to climb V2s- V3s and she is climbing V0-V1's. We definitely have a lot to learn but we are hoping that someone out there would be willing to teach us. We are fast learners! I am about to buy some gear (harnesses, quickdraws, locking biners, and a belay device). I would like to get out and work on some outdoor technique but without full equipment and knowledge we need help. Im planning on taking a lead class at a local gym and my wife is going to take the basic belay class. We are full time RVers in the Louisville area for a few more months before we head to our next location. I am 28 and my wife Megan is 26. My goal is to lead a sport route in the Gorge before we leave here. Anybody interested in helping us out in the next month or so? If you are in the louisville area maybe we could meet at the gym and climb together there first so you can see we are normal (mostly) and safety concious before climbing outdoors. In exchange we can provide beer! Im also a photographer so I could take some pictures of you guys climbing and get you some free prints!

Thanks!

Hey Rob

It might be a little short notice, I was supposed to go to north Carolina next weekend the 10th and 11th but my partner had to bail for family coming into town. I still want to climb that weekend and could change my plans to go to the gorge and then I believe Oct 24th and 25th my girlfriend and I will be going back to the RRG with some friends. But if you can swing it next weekend we could possibly do some climbing, and help you guys out.

Hey Kyle,

Thanks for the offer! Unfortunately we can't make it out there that weekend. Pretty disappointed because that is the weekend of Rocktoberfest. Any chance you guys will be going during the week at all this season? My wife and I both work on most weekends.

Thanks again,
Rob

Probably not, I work during the week and mostly can only do weekend trips. you can always skip paying for indoor tests and classes and just get a guide service to take you out. They are usually less booked during the week and in one to two trips can have you ready to set out on your own.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
