On my last trip to Gunks I couldn't believe how many futon carriers there were and how many people asked for rope after leading a route.

What is up with that??

I agree Bob. How could you boulder when one of the best crags on the planet is less that 2 minutes away?

What's funny to me is seeing the boulderers arriving at the crag as you're leaving after sundown; bouldering in the dark by headlamp . . . wtf?

wtf? bouldering seems to have been extensively developed in the gunks over the last decade - which is awesome and I think was a natural next step in progression for rock climbing in the Shawangunks overall. for people that live there to climb, or just grew up in the area (like myself), bouldering is just something else to do and a great training tool. then there is the growing hardcore community of young boulderers who are out there exploring and getting stoked on the rock just as much as the rad tradsters working the classics. can't we all just get along?

sweet photo by the way
