Description

Outstanding steep pitch with lots of options, the main pillar is sustained and very vertical with a few rests. A line to the left provides a few steps, but the ice tends to be thinner. Still left of this easiest line is Welcome to the Sewing Machine, a mixed variation that starts in the chimney and angles right past small roofs to join the main pillar.

Location

Take Exit 30 off I-87 and drive east for only a few feet on Route 9, then turn immediately left on Tracy Road (Route 6) toward the town of Mineville. The route stands about 2 miles up the road. Caution: The climb is said to be barely on state land, so be certain to walk in from the left to keep your approach legal, and respect all postings.

Protection

screws, lots of trees at the top to set an anchor
