Relatively sheltered compared to the other Ponderosa areas. Lots of big trees providing shade, and reasonably wind free. Rock quality varies dramatically in this area, from really good to awfully bad depending on where you are.
Getting There
Continue past The Pond parking on the forrest service road, past the campground, through some switch backs, eventually cutting across a hillside that rises on your right. Look throught the trees to your left for a burried water tank, it looks like a sattilite dish flipped upside down. Turn onto a faint side road that goes past this and turns to near parallel the main road eventually deadending at a triangular shaped boulder about 12-15' tall. Park and climb. I think this is about 4 miles from where the road turns to dirt.
