Description

Some what higher quality rock than at the Pond, but not as many established problems. Because of the rock quality most of the problems are harder V5 and up.

Getting There

As you are driving through Ponderosa coming from Hwy 4 turn left on FR 269, cross a stream and head up a hill through a forest service gate. Continue on this road for about a mile till you see a cattle corral on your right with a fairly large (3-4 car) pullout just past it. The trail begins from the side of the pullout away from the corral and follow carins and a vague path out and up a hillside to the right through some boulders (there are quite a few problems in here). Once you reach the mesa you'll run into a low barbed wire fence, cross this where there is a rock next to the fence making it easy to step over. There are problems on boulders to the left and right from here as well as on the next hillside up.

The forrest service gate on this road is closed for some time durring the winter. I've climbed up here in December, but if it snows a lot earlier it could get closed sooner. Opening is usually in April? I think.

In addition to the stellar boulders down low, we have done some decent TRs up on the Mesa top. These TRs are actually on the north side of the Ponderosa ridge.
