Description

A long approach- though the access roads may change at any time-we biked in from Bear Notch Road. VIRTUALLY NO ROUTES !!!

Getting There

OK, OK- drive up bear notch road to FR 44 ? a popular biking area on the left just before the winter gate. Bike west on this road (pretty easy ) at 15 minutes is the turn for Owl's (more on this later)at the first significant hill( 45 minutes) a hard right turn at the top on to another forest road.If you come down to some small ponds you have gone to far.Take the right on unmarked forest road for about 10 minutes to a small creek with a steep hill.Head up this hill (north) through some good size boulders-and eventually a small clearing at the base of Black Flies Consume Jim Dunn.
A steep slab is to the left and some wild routes all around 99% unclimbed!!
I have tried approaching from the north( zealand area) and this is really crazy !! Another approach is from the Kanc and involves a river crossing that can be OK It's near the Passaconway house but I still think the above way is best
BEWARE OF BEARS AND MOOSE IN THIS AREA. I HAVE ALWAYS SEEN ONE OR THE OTHER.
GOOD LUCK
These times assume you are wearing a pack
