I'm a lady who recently moved to Portland from Salt Lake City, Utah and am looking for some pals to get on the rocks with.
I have taken the last 2.5 months off from climbing so may be creaky but at last climb was comfortably following 10/11. Bouldering projects range from v4-6. I have a metolius three folding pad. I have not done a lot of leading in challenging grades and lost my rack and rope to a break up but I'm definitely trying to get on the sharp end more.
I have an atc, harness, shoes, chalks, and the pad I mentioned.
Welcome to Portland, the land of craglets and many gyms!
If you climbed extensively in SLC you may be is for a rough landing. The crags immediately around Portland, while plentiful, is generally of the "regional" variety. Not that there are not good routes. The boudering areas are very much in the "meh" category. Traveling to Bend, Leavonworth, or Gold Bar will get you into much better climbing.
As far as meeting partners, there are a crap load of gyms that you could frequent. I can tell you from experience that the circuit is probably not the place to go to meet people that climb outside. There are gatherings/events happening all the time around town. Base Camp and Migration brewing do slideshows and the sort from time to time.
We have a group going to Lost Lake next weekend if you want to join.
If you haven't already you could use the partner finder gizmo on this site.
