New Hap Hour spot for Denver Happy Hour?

Sobo 151 kinda let us down on the last HH, so let's find another spot. Which is too bad because they have good food, decent prices, great central location, and a nice atmosphere... the service however... One of our ladies was simply ignored last time and we can't have the ladies having trouble accessing alcohol! Apparently we overwhelmed them some, and contrary to what the bartender was overheard saying that night, we did give advance warning of our coming.

Anywho, any more ideas? The place needs to be centrally located in Denver, preferably close to light rail, good prices and atmosphere, nice big room, friendly staff, maybe a discount for our patronage??

BTW, next Denver HH will be in May unless we just can't wait that long.

Might I suggest Dougherty's. The place is nice and relaxed, the owners super cool, and just off of Broadway and Cedar. And the next gathering in May!!! People have to be itchin' to tell some lies sooner than that.

Racines is pretty cool; though I don't think it's all that close to the LR

maybe Old Chicago

or Vine Street. That place has TONS of good beer. It's owned by the same folks who own Mountain & Southern Sun.

Vine St is a good choice if they have room to seat 20 people.
If not, then look elsewhere. I'd never take 20 ppl to the Mt Sun or S. Sun. About 6 is the max for those places.

Hooters???!?! After all they do have nice wings.

sonofabitch I can't believe I didn't come up with that!

I cringe when I hear Vine Street Pub...I mean come on Mountain SUN, Southern SUN, why not Uptown SUN...it's in the neighborhood, keeps the common theme going and then there is always the customer loyalty. They have great beer, service and the food is good too, but really, Vine Street Pub...come on man.

Or there is Gabor's. The lead singer in my band bartends there and she would probably hook up some kind of deal. Gabor's is THE best dive in Denver.

Dougherty's is cool, but it might be on the busy side. The dining room is never too busy so maybe they could set that aside for us if we give them advance warning. The Hornet would be another option on Broadway and First. They have good nightly drink specials, good food, and are more used to groups than Sobo. Its also only two blocks from my house, so if anyone is getting ignored by waitresses they could just run over and take a swig of tequila.

My vote would be for the Hornet.

I talked to the owner of Dougherty's on Friday night, and he'll do some specials for us. 25 cent wings, and maybe happy hour prices all night(2 for 1 drafts). Dougherty's is on Ellsworth between Broadway and Lincoln - about 4 blocks north of Sobo 151.

Lets get a happy hour going soon - next week?

My vote is for the Hornet or Falling Rock Tap House. Falling Rock has a lot of room and lots of beer.

Do they have micros, or just the usual swill?
Have you talked to the folks at the other places like The Hornet?

The great thing about a place who will set you up like that is not just the price- it's the message behind it. It means that they want your business. And that's the first criteria for having a place that works out well for you.

When a place wants you there, you get good deals, good service, and everyone is happy. That means Patrons, owner AND staff included if you tip a little extra since you got good deals... Remember that- tip according to normal prices... the staff makes LESS for cheap food deals unless you are generous.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is the best thing on tap at Dougherty's. They also have Smithwicks, Harp, Bass, Guinness, and the rest of the usual swill. Not the most extensive beer list.

I'll try talking to the Hornet next time I am over there.

Sounds good. Those imports are drinkable. I hate saying "imports" because it ends up being Fosters, Dos Equis, and Corona, which are no more drinkable than the crap we mass-produce here.

Sounds like Dougherty's will work. If it doesn't we'll move on down the line. It'll be like a pub crawl that takes years to complete.

Next week, eh? Okay, how about Wed? We need to take some pictures this time.

Andrew, can you change the thread title to something like: Denver HH, Wed 18, Mar, 5:30-ish, Dougherty's. Or start a new thread?

Anyone got any old climbing stuff to bring for show and tell? Last time someone brought the oldest climbing piece that I have ever seen, it's called a Tom Hanson. What a tool that thing is. Ha!

The idea of a gear swap went over OK in Boulder- lets people unlad extras and some people to find what they now want if someone else has it.

There is an authentic English Pub at 13th & Cherokee that might be good for one of these; but absolutely not now (so close to St. Patty's).

Someone should show the owner of Sobo how much business he lost because of his pathetic staff.

Just pick a location and let's go for it... of course, I am the same guy who thinks the Stagecoach in Franktown is a happening place.

I'm with Tracy for the Falling Rock Tap House. We had the EggNog Slamming Contest there a couple of years ago and it was great! Close to the light rail too.

So what's the date for this one?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
