The Middle Zone - Reno Boulders

Please note: As of December 2009 a construction shack was spotted in this area signifying the possibility that a new house will soon go up here. For this reason it is suggested that if your interested in climbing here, you best get it while the gittin's good cuz we could lose this spot at any moment!

It's in the middle zone that most of the actions happens. An easy approach and quality stone has made this area the default zone for climbing around the area. While most of the plumbs have been picked, a few harder lines still wait to be sent.

This area has seen frequent action since it was first developed and it continues to gain a following as more people discover the great stone and cool setting. small pads are all you really need as nothing is too highball here, but the movement is good and the grainy-ness continues to diminish as the lines see more ascents.

Some areas here show signs of ancient development that clearly occurred before the days of pads, this includes a few bolts w/out hangers, an old top rope anchor, etc. While we are unsure of who these early pioneers were, we applaud their effort in working these problems back in the day when it was a serious haul to reach the stones.

Hot Rail V5+  NV : Reno - Carson City : ... : Middle Zone
"Lowball" doesn't quite describe this wicked, ground level, horizontal traverse. But while low, this line has bouted a multitude of suitors.15+ feet of Heel locks and mediocre edges get you to the second of two cruxes where a switch of the feet sets you up for a long reach and mantle to top out.A unique line and another cool addition to the areas selection of problems....[more]   Browse More Classics in NV
