| Hi all,
We are 4 Australians coming to Red Rocks in early March. We are only bringing one trad rack between us to save weight on the flights as we are going ski-ing in Utah also.
Can any locals please advise regarding likely climbing temperatures at that time of year? And any special recommendations on sport routes up to 5.11a?
Thanks, hope to meet some of you there. Annette

| temps in early march- are generally really nice- probably in the 70s by then, perfect weather that time of year.
sport routes up to .11a- Black Corridor: Rebel Without A Pause
Stratocaster Area: Marshall Amp One Eyed Jack Footloose The Deluxe
Holiday Wall: When the Cat's Away Red Sky Mining Red Storm Rising
The Gallery: Just work from left to right to warm up, then jump on Yaak Crack- its .11c, but its really fun and lots of jugs. If you're there on a weekend, its like as not someone will have draws on it.
Sweet Pain Wall: The Gambler Glitter Gulch
i'm sure more people can chime in- this is just stuff i've done that i thought was pretty good...i'm more a trad guy. give me a shout if you want some beta on the trad stuff in the area.

| If you're looking for stuff UP TO .11a, Strat, Holiday and Sweet Pain are going to be tricky areas... as their climbs START at .11a. Check out the Gallery (though it'll be warm), Stone Wall (a half dozen quality 10s), the Black Corridor (about 25 climbs.. Rebel is the crown jewel), and perhaps Hunter S. Thompson Dome (a newish .11a, two newer 10s and a pair of 5.8s). HST also sits right above the corridor and Sweet Pain, so you can go down and check those walls out from there too. I'd start with those I suppose =). | |
