DescriptionThis is a warm, south-facing crag with a nice view. The namesake route is a Red Rocks classic. Getting ThereHike into Pine Creek Canyon past Topless Twins, etc, staying on a trail toward the right side of the canyon. There will be a chossy red cliff band on your righthand side, with lighter crags towering above. If you keep your eyes peeled you will see a nice splitter in white rock up there, maybe 50-75' above the floor of the canyon. That's Out of Control. Right about the time you reach the toe of Mescalito on your left, the red band on your right will give way into an obvious talus gully. Walk up here, then double back on a big ledge system about 100 yards. The ClassicsMountain Project's determination of some of the classic, most popular, highest rated routes for Out of Control area:

At the top there's a short widening crack which leads up into an A-frame roof. You need some larger gear here (#3.5 – 4 Camalot) but don’t have to do any real OW moves. Cool moves lead to a nice belay ledge with rap chains, just above the roof....[more] Browse More Classics in NV |
