Approach as per Big Falls. Climb the goat trail to the left of the falls , gaining the large bowl above. The ice is not very big, but forms up before anything else on the mountain. We climbed here on new years day 2006. Not a drop of new snow had falled all year, yet a massive snowfield remained from the previous winter. No ice was visible, but I hiked up to where is usually is and was shocked and delighted to find a really, really frozen waterfall guarded by a 50 foot high overhanging moat of frozen alpine ice. We set a toprope on this sunny and steep-esque feature and ran laps all day! Prehaps the most rare, crazy ice of my life!!!!
