anyone know how to get to this place? islands in the sky is outdated enough that its no help, and id love to have a bouldering area to go thats actually close to my house!

The Vegas Bouldering book has good instructions on how to get there. With the crappy dirt roads, it takes a while and doesn't save much time over goint to Kraft(if there is no traffic)

I've only been there once and there aren't a ton of established problems.(especially easier ones, cus I suck at bouldering) Looks like lots of potential, but very sharp rock.

i used island in the sky to get out there like 4 years ago. walked a ways to get in and the rock sux except in the very back of the canyon. its good on the one time. as far as a description goes all i can remember is parking next to a water tower and wishing i had a four wheel drive to get down farther.

Hey John,

I was just there this afternoon. Mat and I know the way but I don't know it well enough to explain here. The new bouldering guide has the description on how to get there, but one of the roads you go down is under construction. However, you can just go down one of the streets next to it and you'll get there.

Doug, while your argument for kraft may be valid for some Henderson climbers, John actually lives right next to Big Sandy.

It's not that long of a drive on the dirt road, maybe 10 minutes max if you drive slowly, and you definitely need clearance on you ride. I don't know what that comment was about the hike, the first boulder is about a two minute stroll from where you park. I guess Josh had to walk the whole road due to an inadequate vehicle, bummer. Your truck should be fine, John.

I also used the island in the sky to get back there, all i can remember is using racetrack rd. to get there and i eventually found it. i liked it, didn't love it, but i used to live in henderson too and it was worth checking out. i also went to keyhole canyon sometimes when i lived there, my friends make fun of me, but i LOVE it! i like the leadable cracks, top ropes, and bouldering. Have you guys been to the englishman's wall or any of these other supposedly awesome spots near boulder in the old islands guide? any beta? supposedly granite!?
