Ice Climbing 

The Needles aren't just for rock climbing anymore baby.

There are two very popular ice climbing areas in the Needles at Honeybear near Sylvan Lake and Palmer Creek on the flanks of Harney Peak. Less crowded and with longer and more complicated approaches than Spearfish Canyon. These are great places to enjoy a peaceful day of great moderate ice climbing.

The main falls of Honey Bear provides a nice climb. This flow is narrow, so really only one line exists up it (with variations). The bottom half is reasonably steep, while the upper section has a lower angle. Descend by hiking off to the left of the climb.
