Need help looking for an article

I remember reading an article/report of the legendary first(and only) solo winter traverse somewhere in NA(probably Alaska) where the climber was from NH (used to live in a cabin without heat through the winters, was a known strong climber). The traverse took a couple of months but the article mentions it involved so much objective hazard he probably didn't expect to come back from it. The next big traverse he went on, he never came back from.

I can't remember where I read this article, and I can't seem to collect enough key words to find it online. It might've been in either a post-2010 climbing magazine or an AAC publication. Any thoughts?

Alpinist issue 52 (Winter 2015) has an article about him.
