Need a Portaledge
|
My partner and I are talking about a trip to Zion to have a go at Moonlight Butress. We have all the necessary big wall gear less a portaledge. We are looking at going sometime toward the end of October and will be road tripping from Fort Collins. Wondering if there is anyone out there that would be willing to lend us a double portaledge/fly for a nominal fee (including beer). |

You don't need a ledge for moonlight. Do it in a push or fix and fire. |
|
On the other hand, sleeping on a ledge on the Buttress could be a lifetime memory, or even quite romantic! |

I'd start eyeing up craigslist. I saw one up on the denver site about every 2-3 months. They're going for 150-300. Not too bad, and you can always turn it around again. |

There's one for sale on another MP.com post. |

If any of the posted options don't work out you can pick up a "Womb With A View" from Mountain Tools for $135 which is a copy of the old Forrest Wall Womb, my old Wall Womb was not terribly comfortable but did the job. |

It is pretty ugly. Moonlight is also pretty much always a conga line, not always easy to pass on, and semi-popular as a free route. Out of respect to others, it is a good route to do as quickly as possible. |

That's good to know. While it's on my tick list, I've yet to make the trip. |

Wall Wombs were great! They had a spreader bar to help the the shoulder issues. I wish I knew were mine was. |

Yeah Allen, me too! I went back to Kentucky to visit family and my Wall Womb had vanished along with my old tube chocks, mine had the purple and lime rainfly. |
