| I never really understood the whole "hate on noobs" thing. It seems to say much more negative about the shit talkers than it does about the noobs.

I don't even think Mike was addressing Locker. Others like David Sahalie and myself were talking about the n00b hate, but you can go with Locker's close reading if you want.
Unlike you, I've actually met Mike and he's a cool guy. He climbs what he says he does, contributes honest opinions, and doesn't hide out behind the shrubs with made up grades and opinions he learned are cool online.
By all means though, continue your habitually subpar trolling ;). |

As far as your OP, I have no idea what the survival rate on n00bs is. I'd guess that n00bs are scared straight by all the gym regs that make belaying seem complicated and the fact they only know how to tie into a pre-made figure 8 knot. |

You can try all day to get me to react, but I am pretty happy with myself. I am also not the one who is still climbing on the beginner routes after ten years of practice.
I'll never be the best at climbing either, but I also don't carry around an inferiority complex about my climbing ability like you do. Someone can call me a noob and I won't be taking it personally. Try it. It might just make you a happier person and keep you from sticking your dick in donkeys like you are so inclined to do.

From what I have seen, they go from the gym to sport climbing. There is no craft to sport climbing, clip bolts anf go. Rarely do you see them going from the gym 5.12's to the yellow spur (Eldo trad 5.9). They'd likely back off or get really hurt.
