Gaeta south of Rome is way off the beaten path: zero gringos...fun route, Croce del Sud (6c if memory serves), rap in a few ropelengths, swim in the Med, then climb 6 or so pitches out. fun.

Finale Ligure isn't exactly off the beaten path, but it's dope.

Le Mani Nude is a good guidebook for the Aosta valley. way mellower than cham valley and only a few minutes away thru the tunnel.

dolomites rad, but haven't climbed there (only ridden; it's super).

sardegna super sport climbing, but well developed and more crowded.

give a shout if i can help with anything else...

No need to be all touchy, feel-ie here Tony. Boulder has a way with Men over a period of time it seems. Why can't we just admit to being men, with man brains and enjoy pix of good looking women? Sheesh Here, here!

If I lived in Boulder that would make a lot of sense.
And if you knew anything at all about me, that statement wouldn't.
But I imagine it provided a lot of chuckles for the many people who do.

Ha... You mean the heavenly world that includes living in London? Ya, it rocks.

I am going to get scared on some grit this weekend though, so it's not all bad. And of course there's the wife to lick the wounds after I get bouted by Peak District sandbags.

Yeah I've been noticing that. I'm surprised that Shawn Mitchel hasn't switched to a sunset picture and talked Blitzo into joining the conversation with him just to make it worse..

But if you insist. May I suggest the following criteria, of precedence:

"Ryan Williams
Member Since: May 10, 2009"

Vs

"A less frequently shot view of Devil's Tower, just after the clearing of a summer storm. Photo by Tony Bubb, 7/01.
Submitted By: Tony B on Jun 7, 2007"

Ahh heck, I've got other pics - here it goes...

Aww man I liked your picture - you shoulda kept yours. I couldn't change mine earlier 'cuz I was on the iPood.

I just pick one that has a lot of color so I can't go back and find my posts easily.

This was always a favorite picture right here - for those without sizzlin' hot wives, there is always "tourism."

My bad. Although you might want to change your profile. Near Boulder= might as well be in Boulder. I see you keep track of all the routes you have climbed alot seem to be.......in Boulder. I am not really into arguing semantics but..

Carry on.

Oh BTW Ryan, you are one lucky bastard!

Sorry James, been so busy with the washing of the dishes...

Dolomites and Arco are our haunts, but we've been told that Finale Ligure is a must. I suspect our protagonist will soon enlighten us. Things to do while in Italy with the smokin' wife:

Lived there 6 years, have some other places if this doesn't wet your whistle...

I dont know if this has been posted yet, but 'Campanile di Val Montanaia'-- this is a pretty solid climb from what I have heard, approach is a little up hill, but you have a rifugio at the bottom or a 'tin box' bivouac at the base- Rif. Pordenone, guy speaks good english and the wine is cheap. Its in Friuli and maybe an hour to 45 min drive from Cortina if you stay on SS51.

summitpost.org/campanile-di-va...

If you dont feel like taking a bunch of gear, they have tons of via ferrata in the area- i suggest Tofanna di Rozes, thats a good 5-7 hour climb through WWI tunnels and wraps out around 10,8ft. Its a loop climb/hike and you can stay at a high alt rifugio just on the other side of the summit- again, wine is cheaper than water.

summitpost.org/tofana-di-rozes...

Have fun man, me and my hottie miss it everyday.

Add on- go in July, August is when all the I-ties are on the month long vacation, or head out in Sept, rifugios will close down mid sept.

And.... could always traipse on over to the Matterhorn, awesome climb, but damn it if doesn't have a tad bit of exposure and scary loose rock.
