DescriptionMunising Michigan is THE place in the Midwest to ice climb. Routes up to 200 feet high form right out of Lake Superior, with not a single ice climb rated below WI3. There are over 150 climbs in a 20+ mile long shoreline (including Grand Island) with many, many climbs rated WI5 and a lot rated WI6 and higher. This is it, the mother of all Munising climbs, although it’s not the hardest, it’s the biggest, fattest, and most inspiring climb to look at and climb in the park. The climb forms in two HUGE pillars fed by a creek above, that come together at the top to form massive bat wings. From the frozen lake to the top of the cliff, it is over 200 feet high, with the actual climbing lasting for about 150 feet.
