Multipitch Partner Wanted (Tahoe)

Hola,

I have been climbing for about 6 or 7 years now, mostly sport. I'm a safe climber with a strong desire to learn, especially from someone much better than me. I can lead 5.10s consistently, and follow on 5.11. I'm really looking to take my climbing to the next level and get on some much bigger badder stuff. I have done two multipitch routes before with some friends, but that's the extent of my experience. I have led a few easy trad routes before, but I would like to become much more comfortable placing gear. I have a full rack, as well. Anyone in the Tahoe area who would be willing to take a "newbie" out would be my hero. Thanks.

Jared

Bump, anyone?

Hi Jared,

I'm not the person who's much better than you that you're looking for - my abilities are more similar to yours. I'll be spending the summer in south lake starting around June 5th, and am looking for partners. I've done many of the classic 5.7 multipitch climbs around South Lake, and am really hoping to get better at leading trad this summer. Let's learn some shit together. Got a full rack, and 70 m.

Go to lovers leap and start climbing easy routes. You can totally do it!

I think that's the plan. I actually just drove past Lover's Leap today, not knowing we would be able to see it from the road. We looked to our left and our jaws dropped. What an impressive rock face! Thanks for the encouragement.

pick up jon longs book on trad anchors. spend an afternoon practicing your anchor building and go get on something easy. i've only climbed 1 route at the leap and it required gear anchors. have fun!

Hey Jared, I'd do some climbing with you. What is your schedule like? I'm in the slow part of my year so I have lots of free time...

My schedule is pretty much all but clear. No work for me this summer. I'm down for climbing with you. What sort of stuff are you really into?

I actually just got back from the leap and was thinking yosemite but I'd prob go back to the leap if I had a good partner. I'm all about multipitch trad in the 10's an 11's. I'll prob fall on a lot of the 11's and get most of the 10's. If we climb well together I'd be into doing some longer stuff in yosemite if you're up for it. I'm thinking leave the bay are on tuesday to avoid the crowds

I'm definitely down. Multipitch is what I'm really wanting to do, as well. However, in the beginning, it might be a lot of you leading and setting anchors, with me following. I think I will pick it up relatively quickly, but I figured I would warn you. With that being said, I can follow 11, but it's close to my limits, strength-wise. Let me know what you think.

No longer accepting applications for being my climbing friend, but thank you for your interest. There could be some openings in the near future, however, if things don't work out with the first group.

Anyone know how to delete these forum posts? Can't figure it out, for the life of me.
