Mt. Whitney Mountaineer's Route

Heading up next weekend to climb the face and descend the MR. Just looking to get some info on the routes conditions as for some websites are calling for ice axe and crampons. If anyone has any personal route info or a recent trip report I'd love to hear it. Thanks!
