Mt. Washington questions
I'd like to hike up mt Washington tomorrow. I'm not familiar with the mountain. Are there multiple trails? If so, what are their difficulty levels? Also, do the trails on mt Washington have constant rocks like those on Katahdin? |
If you're not even willing to google hiking mt Washington.. you're not capable of doing the hike safely.. |
I thought it would be easier and faster to ask on here because I'm traveling. |

I would recommend taking the Duquesne Incline to get the top of mt washington. you get some great views of downtown pittsburgh and there are some nice bars/restaurants at the top! |

Also, do the trails on mt Washington have constant rocks like those on Katahdin? There are indeed multiple trails, most people will go up Tuckerman's Ravine or Lion's Head. If you're a climber or looking for more of a challenge, look into Huntington Ravine trail which involves scrambling and has nice views of the technical routes in the ravine. Mt. Washington doesn't have constant rocks but it has consistently rough terrain. The final push to the summit is all rock. The terrain is not particularly difficult if you're accustomed to hiking on the East Coast, but the weather can be an extreme challenge. Looks like you're in the clear for tomorrow, but any time you hike Mt. Washington, you should check the Higher Summits Forecast published by the Mt. Washington observatory: mountwashington.org/experie…. Note that the high will be in the 50's tomorrow so you'll want back-up layers or a change of dry clothes. |
