Anybody interested in heading up to Charleston on Monday morning?

I'm really surprised I never get any responses from ANY climbers in Vegas. I see em out there every time I go, why is everyone such a climbing-monogamist?

Hmmm, a possible reason is Vegas is a 24/7 city, and many locals tend to work crazy hours, crazy shifts, and end up doing crazy things till the wee hours of the morning, and maybe can't think, or plan that far ahead of time. I've noticed (with my Vegas friends, anyway)that it's much easier to grab us by the arm, and force us into submission in person, at the spur of the moment, than to make plans ahead of time via phone, text or e-mail(although, I'm not talking about climbers, except me ; ) ). Another possible reason is the high number of personality disorders that Vegas attracts; you almost have to be a little gamey to enter into certain clicks, but once you're in, you're in for life, or death, and end up buried in the desert. Pretty pathetic, huh? Kidding on the desert burial though, well sort of. Plus, this is summer, although you say you see locals out, especially at Charleston, right? I don't know. John Hegyes, and I are off Tuesday, and Wednesday, although we mostly do moderate multi-pitch and/or go out of town. Rarely sport, and with me, never really have done hard sport or gyms. You're looking for Saturday- Monday, eh? I wish I knew the answer, David.

Ya, I'm usually a Sat-Mon kind of guy. I don't always look for the hard sport - but I definitely do it more often. I love the long trad as much as anybody, but if you do it too often the forearms seem to get a little soft. Of course there's long trad that's harder, but sport climbing is such a good workout!, and it seems even harder to find people that like those harder trad routes. Everything has its +'s and -'s.

I guess being buried in the desert would be okay as long as I was able to get on some really fun routes first! I suppose I'm just surpirsed how few climbers I've really met since moving up here - kinda feels like a weird version of dating.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
