Mt. Brewer on the left and North Guard on the righ...

Description

Another high and wild peak east of the Sierra crest, with expansive views of the rest of the southern part of the range.

Getting There

Another wonderful Sierra hike.

From Road's End at Cedar Grove hike up Bubbs Creek, past Charlotte Creek, and a looong way to Junction Meadow, turn south, cross the creek (scariest part of the whole trip} and follow the trail, with amazing views of Mount Bago to the north, to East Lake which makes a very scenic camp spot for the East Ridge and North Face routes - 18 miles.

Go here for entry permits.

Northeast Face 5.8  CA : High Sierra : Mt. Brewer

When Fred and I climbed it in the 90's we were the first entry in the new register - which was four years old. There are outstanding views north.Approach West from East Lake up Ouzel Creek, with wonderful views of Ericsson Crags in particular. It's a long, long approach, about 3000ft in 3 miles. The first 3 pitches have loose blocks - so take care.P1 (5.7) Clim...[more]   Browse More Classics in CA
