| I'm moving from Ky to San Antonio in a few weeks, it will be a while before I get settled and able to start climbing again but I'm looking for groups and places to go. I have never climbed outdoors, all we have in this area of Ky is gyms, which get boring after you solve the same problem 10 times. I would like someone to "show me the ropes" and have a blast doing it!!!! | FLAG |

| You'll be just 6 hours (and one border crossing) from El Potrero Chico--world capital of big wall sport climbing! Closer to home you'll have the enchanting Enchanted Rock. | FLAG |

| I second what James said. Enchanted Rock and maybe Reimer's Ranch are your best bet. Erock has a mishmash of cracks, bolts, slab, steep rock, and boulders. It's mostly a traditional environment but there's a few sport climbs. Almost everything out there is top rope accessible. Reimer's is grid bolted sport climbing. Not really top rope accessible but I'm sure you'll find plenty of rope guns around. It can get crowded in the popular spots at Reimer's. Honestly, I think the place is overrated. I prefer Erock despite the longer drive (from Houston), longer approaches, and substantially heavier pack. You'll probably have better luck finder partners/groups at erockonline.com. I post there as superclimber. Once you're settled in feel free to pm me your email and I'll forward you an invite next time we put a group together out there. | FLAG |

| Hey! I live here in San Antonio and know of some routes in north San Antonio. I've got another buddy I climb with. We're no pros but if your interested in coming with, let me know. The wall is actually bigger than anything Austin or Reimer's ranch has. Vannie | FLAG |

| erockonline.com is defunct. It looks like Sean deactivated it but still has a placeholder image there or something. I get only a header image when I try to load it. Definitely get in touch with the CTM. There is also a Meetup climbing group in Austin I noticed. You'll probably drive to the Greenbelt in Austin to climb most of the time and then go get a bite to eat in town. Reimer's is the bigger limestone sport area and it has a new place called the North Shore. It's a county park, so there is an entrance fee. Pretty quickly you'll see how small the climbing community is and you'll see most of them again and again out at the crags. Enchanted Rock is your granite trad area. That's just outside Fredericksburg. Cool about that wall in San Antonio. I always heard access was a pain. Keep it on the down low and you'll be able to enjoy it longer. | FLAG |

| Vannie, Where do you climb in north SA? Are there any websites with route info? Thanks, Adam | FLAG |

| try www.erockonline.com/forum/upload/index.php?]]www.erockonline>>> to get to the central Texas climber's forum. I grew up climbing in and around Austin and this forum made Mountain Project relatively obsolete. They'd be the guys to ask about cragging in SA also. You don't have to drive to Reimers to get outdoors. Enjoy yourself down there! I have a couple of military (ex Marines) friends who live in and climb around San Antonio if you want contact info | FLAG |

Erockonline is still there and active, but many of us are having trouble accessing it with Safari. Not sure about other browsers. Anyway, you can get to it with a link or bookmark such as the one above. At least one of the SA locals is currently working on access issues in that city. Hopefully, things will improve there. | FLAG |

| And there is a facebook group called San Antonio Climbers, I left it though because it's run by a group of 30 year old potheads who smart off in every topic you make, make fun of inexperienced people instead of help them, make plans with you and leave you waiting at the crag alone, etc etc etc, nothing gets accomplished there, it's just a place for people who already know each other to post their nonsense and run new comers off. My partner and I and are getting involved with Central Texas Mountaineers and other groups that are involved in development in the area, so if your into helping develop let me know as well and I will point you in the right direction and hopefully see you around at our trail projects or putting up some new routes. https://www.facebook.com/stranglerblues << add me on facebook if you want. | FLAG |

| I have been to lifetime to climb once, actually the only climbing I've done since I've been here. I liked the gym and the routes a lot, although I find $85 a month to be a little steep especially when the hours for the wall is so limited. | FLAG |
