This first crux move on The Poop Shoot

Description

A small but concentrated area of high-quality boulder problems nestled amongst the Sawtooth Mountains in the Cibola National Forest

Getting There

From Datil, head west on HWY 60 for roughly 12 miles and turn right onto Forest Road 6A. Continue for approx. 4 miles, there may or may not be a stone cairn marking the approach road, but veer right, and follow the road until it dead ends. From parking to boulders is approx. 10 minutes.

Ploss on, "More Death, Less Rail." The rail feature used on The Death Rail is visible just below of his right foot. The camera angle doesn't really do the height justice, but one can get a good feel for the landing.

Brian,
Yes, however none go straight up from Monster Island due to the bands of choss. There is a existing summit route that goes at 5.8-9. You can find info on the "Sawtooth Crags" topos hidden in a chewed-up medicine bottle in a hueco about 1/2 mile to the South of Monster Island near some sport routes. Some day I will post the pictures I took of them.
