BETA PHOTO: Big Blue MIXED Finish Variations (Feb '08)

Location

See Big Blue

Description

Climb the RIGHT side of Big Blue to where the ice ends in the alcove on the right. The first bolt is on the wall to the right and might need to be chopped out. climb up and out alcove looking for a black bolt ofer on the face to the right (this one needs a 24” runner). Continue up to a seam/right facing corner to the top ice. The anchors are off to the Left a bit and often covered in ice. If it’s thick, I recommend topping out on the ledge and using the prominent set of anchors above. Do future parties a favor and chop out the anchors below the lip on the way down. This is the best and most straightforward of the 3 mixed finishes.

Protection

5-7 Screws for Big Blue and 2 QD’s and a 24” runner for the 2nd bolt. NOTE: a 24” long runner is suggested for clipping the second bolt that is out on the face to the right. If you don’t do this you’ll have a zig-zag that goes around a corner, not a good thing…
