It is with an incredible sadness that I post the news that my good friend Bobby Model died today. Bobby was a well-known climber and photographer, having traveled the world covering the sport we love.

2 1/2 years ago, he was injured in South Africa when a rock was thrown through the windshield of a car in which he was riding. He sustained massive and life-threatening injuries, but showed good signs of recovery from that incident. Bobby has recently been back at home in Cody, Wyoming, slowly recuperating from his head injuries.

I don't know any details at this time other than the overwhelming sadness this news brings to his friends and his family.

So sorry to hear that. Condolences to his family and friends. The climbing community in Lander needs to catch a break...too much tragedy for such a small community.

Brenda and I send our condolences to Bobby's family and friends. Though we didn't know Bobby personally, we have met many of the local Cody climbers, who all felt a special bond to this special person. We loved his photography, which seemed to appear everywhere, even in the guidebook to Croatia. He will always be an inspiration to the climbing world.

So unbelievably sad. RIP, Bobby, whom I became good friends with through our mutual love of climbing in East Africa.

Oh no! I am so sorry to hear this. I got to hang out with Bobby a few times at Ten Sleep, back when the Mondo was about the only spot in the upper Canyon. I had thought that he was well on his way to getting better from his injuries.

My condolences to all of his friends and family and +++ vibes.

RIP Bobby.

Bobby was such a warm hearted, sensitive and good man, as well as a superb climber and outstanding journalist. He fought with every fiber of his being to recover from his tragic accident nearly 2 1/2 years ago. I watched as he screamed in pain during his physical therapy sessions. He jokingly made me promise to beat up his therapist for hurting him .... but he knew it was for the best. And he had session after seemingly endless session. We were all convinced he was on the mend. Our hopes were high and he remained the 'Bobby' we all knew until the end. Bobby, we aren't going to make it to Mt. Kenya as we promised each other we would, but I will go back and climb it for you. My deepest sympathies go to his mother Ann, sister Faith and all others who loved this truly unique person. Peace be with you my very good friend.
