  • Description

The two routes Eric describes in Desert Rock 1 are located on the east side of this long formation. They both climb to the higher summit and begin on the opposite side of the road when driving by. This summit has probably seen less then 15 ascents, so don't expect to pick up a date here.

    Getting There

Mar Hotel is past Park Ave and past the La Sal Viewpoint to the east of the road just after the road turns to the north. It is the only large landform to the south of The Organ.

Beware, you only get 1-2 pieces of gear and must climb a good way above them to the ledge (bedding seam). 5.9Pitch 1 1/2: Traverse (walk) 20 meters right on the ledge to the obvious flake. No good belay for p2. Pitch 2: Aid under the roof and up the flake on ok cams (.75 camalots). End in a corner just above an...[more]   Browse More Classics in UT
