making a systems board

I was wondering if anybody had any ideas on making a portable freestanding systems board. I can weld and was thinking of using angle iron and inch tubing for a frame and supports for a single sheet of 4x8ft plywood...any ideas for how to make a crack feature that could bolt on would be great as well.
