The "Main cliff" is actually several sections of rock all lined up next to each other. Hosts the majority of good climbs at Waipapa. From Right to left: Wall of fate, The Arch area, Millennium wall, Far left wall.

Getting There

From the parking lot follow the gravel road past the gate. Take a left at the first obvious point, and continue on this trail, skirting the river. If you get to a point where the river cuts right and there's a small metal fishing platform you've gone too far. Trace back about 100 feet and find a path the climbs into the forest. Follow the path a couple hundred feet to the base of the cliff. Here the track forks to the right and left. A short walk to the right will take you to Galaxy wall, wheras heading left will take you to the Main cliff.

A classic for the area, must do. Starts with a strenuous layback on slippery feet, climbing a fading fingercrack in a huge right-facing corner. The climbing is solid 5.10 at the start, but you will quickly get some divots for your feet and things ease up quite a bit. This leads to even easier, yet enjoyable climbing on a traverse under the enormous roof. There may be a move or two to pull onto the belay ledge, depending on what holds you find....[more]   Browse More Classics in International
