hey guys
iam hannes from austria i want to climb lurking fear next year and have a short question
what do you recommend for sleeping: a lightweight hammock or a portalege
i want to go very light

Hannes,

You may be able to sleep on rock ledges, depending on how fast you climb. I think most parties bring a portaledge. There's a small ledge you can swing over to at around pitch 10 or 11, I think. There's also an amazing ledge on top of pitch 17. The ledge on pitch 10 is not very big, though.

We fixed to three and bivy'd on the pitch 10 ledge. Good spot for two people. The cave at 17 is awesome as well. Some of the hauling on the route sucks, so you'll be happy with as little gear as possible.

Move fast, no portaledge. Try not to get stuck behind crowds, hammock is a good insurance policy.
